Roseanne Barr is probably one of America's funniest comedians, but there is another side of Roseanne that not many people have seen. Roseanne was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and during her teenage years she spent time as a dishwasher at a local restaurant. She married her husband, Bill Pentland and they had three children together. They remained married for sixteen years, until Roseanne found her place as a comedian. She spent time in local stand up comedy clubs, until, in 1987, HBO offered Roseanne her own show, On Location: The Roseanne Barr Show (1987) (TV). After a short time it was canceled. In 1989, Roseanne starred in a comedy opposite 'Meryl Streep' and 'Ed Begley, Jr.' in She-Devil (1989). Though her first picture wasn't as successful as she wanted it to be, television companies NBC and ABC got her into an eight season comedy series called _Roseanne_ . During the show, Roseanne fell in love with fellow cast member, Tom Arnold and Roseanne divorced her husband Bill, after nearly 20 years of marriage and married Arnold.During later years of the show, Roseanne also divorced Tom Arnold and TV show ratings went down. In 1996 she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and won, but was not there to accept it. After _Roseanne_ was canceled, she went on Broadway to play The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, which was a major success. To date, Roseanne has yet again been remarried and re-divorced and she still does a number of comedy appearances and TV guest appearances.
